Jamiroquai - Automaton
Ticket sales for Jamiroquai will open on 31st January 2019
With more than 35 million albums sold throughout the world and a career spanning nearly 29 years, the British group led by charismatic Jay Kay has firmly established its style. Everybody knows those songs Cosmic Girl, You Give Me Something, Virtual Insanity… It was in London, at the start of the 1990s, that Jamiroquai made a name for itself in the booming acid jazz movement, quickly becoming recognised among the bands of that period, occasionally flirting with disco in the 1970s and some elements of rock. Since then, he has gained international recognition, while continuing to develop his music further.
Strange robotic effects, electronic experiments... In his latest album, Automaton, Jamiroquai questions modernity and technology whilst keeping to his own sound references: touches of acid jazz and disco, with a little dancing « French Touch » too. Although there are obvious signs of computer coding, the sound has a decidedly more electronic and futurist aspect than the funk rhythmics to which the band’s fans were accustomed. On stage, Jay Kay and his group remain exactly what they always have been: fantastic entertainers. Let’s not forget that in Jamiroquai, there is « Jam », a jazz term referring implicitly to musical improvisation and exchange.
