Omri Mor

At the heart of the Middle East, a source of music which has spread throughout the world - music for body and soul, dance music both popular and full of wisdom (just like jazz) - Omri Mor, a pianist born in 1983 in Jerusalem, is a worldly man wanting to uphold all traditions, in all voices. In addition to studying classical music and piano jazz at the «Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music», from the age of 14 he followed lessons by the famous oud player Nino «Elmaghribi» Biton, who taught him the essentials of Arab-Andalusian music and Algerian chaabi.

He quickly came to the attention of Avishai Cohen, who took him to tour around the world as a member of his trio. Omri Mor’s playing is remarkable for its perfectly mastered multiple influences, revealing exceptional pianistic talent enabling him to adventure onto new ground with frenzied rhythms, giving his piano wings of swing and freedom. He has performed with major artists in Israeli jazz such as Avishai Cohen (double bass) and Avishai Cohen (trumpet), Omer Avital, Eli Degibri and works together with numerous international artists. Latest album: It’s About Time!

In partnership with the Red Sea Jazz Festival (Eilat).
